christmas vegetable recipe:

royal icing

ingredients

sugar - soft brown 1 cup
water 3 tbs
golden syrup 3 tbs
ground cinnamon 1 tsp
ground ginger 1 tsp
butter 1 cup
baking soda 2 tsp
flour 3 cup

production

  1. Sieve the icing sugar twice
  2. Mix in the egg whites and the glycerine
  3. Beat the mixture with a wooden spoon until the mixture is stiff and can support itself

chef notes:

Royal icing is the traditional covering of wedding, and other celebration cakes and dries very hard (the glycerine will prevent it becoming brittle).

A little food colouring can be added if required (powdered is preferential).
