Bought
shop sweets, lollies and candy is all well and good for an
occasional treat.
But try spending a few hours with the kids making fresh coconut
ice, saltwater taffy, home made sherbet, fudge etc and discover
the joys on their faces, and not just from eating the end
product but from the making of it, and the time spent with
you.
Let them have some, but not too much, and wrap the rest up
and give it away for presents.
